Grading under Saddle and Stallion Performance Tests at Elmshorn: Three Stallions...

Since Thursday, the Holsteiner Verband facility had been humming with numerous stallions from all across Germany and the neighbouring countries, with seven of them presented for grading under saddle and 36 to undergo short ability assessment or stallion sport testing.

Following the presentation on hard ground, the free jumping, and the presentation under saddle, the grading committee comprising Stephan Haarhoff, Christian Thoroe and Matthias Wittke, has approved three stallions for breeding. One of them the three-year-old I’m Extra EB by I’m Special de Muze-Colman, bred and owned by Evi Bengtsson (Itzehoe), who also convinced in the short ability assessment (short AA) with the jumping weighted final mark of 8.50. “We have seen here a stallion with a lot of push off, masculine type and a magnificent dark coat” breeding director Stephan Haarhoff described the stallion from the successful Holsteiner mare family 6786. Also licensed: four-year-old Crackeur by Crack-Cassini II (Hanno Lorenzen, Rantrum). The typey grey from mare family 2978 has been attested a very good top-line and excellent hind leg technique by Haarhoff. Four-year-old Bombastic by Baloubet du Rouet-Connor (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen) was the third to be awarded approved status by the grading committee. The tall stallion from successful mare family 741 has an excellent pedigree and convinced with his jumping ability and athleticism.

Braeden by Balou du Rouet-Quevee Prestige, bred by Gerhard Ohlsen (Oevenum/Föhr), completed the best three-year-old short AA. He had been Neumünster licensed and sold at auction in February 2023 and topped the ranking with the jumping weighted final mark of 8.66. Entered by Torsten Petith (Bad Homburg) and presented by Sarah Pröpper, Braeden scored 9.0 on as much as three criteria, jumping ability, rideability, and willingness to perform. A yet unnamed stallion by Viscerado-Stakkato stood out in the four-year-old age bracket. The grey Hanoverian sent to Elmshorn by the state stud of Celle was presented by Christopher Dittmann and travelled back to Celle with a jumping weighted final mark of 8.69. The winner of the five-year-old category is another state stallion, this time from Warendorf. Charmeur Blanc by Cornado I-Chin Champ received the jumping weighted final mark 8.62 under the saddle of Philipp Winkelhaus.
