Get ready for next Sunday, 14 August, when the best Holsteiner young talents of the 2022 age group will be chosen at the state foal championship initiated by the Holsteiner Verband stallion keeping GmbH. Almost 50 qualified foals from all breeding districts have been entered by their successful breeders. And beside some long-established traditions, the schedule also includes some innovations.
With the starting signal given at 9.30am, the first filly is to enter the Bad Segeberg dressage arena at the foot of her dam. The colt foals start at about 11.30am, before – and that’s the first new development – the ring of the foals bred for dressage is presented to the public and the judges at about 1.30pm. The award ceremonies with prizes awarded to the three best foals in each class are held straight after the respective class. In between the grand prix rounds and the jump off (about 4.00pm) all foals ranked on 1st to 3rd place in the colt, filly, and dressage foal class, respectively, are again presented in the venerable main arena to the state horse show crowd. Each winner will receive 2,000 euros in prize money as well as a high-quality flower tub, sponsored by the R+V general agency Birte Stapelfeldt, those in second place may look forward to a Holsteiner Verband stallion keeping GmbH 500 euro stud fee voucher and a ClipMyHorse.TV one-year-premium-membership whereas each third placed is given an awesome Holsteiner halter as well as a 250 euro stud fee voucher.
Among the entered foals are the best representatives of the current age group which have qualified through the regional inspection and registration sites held in the breeding districts. Their pedigrees read like a mixture of the Who’s Who in international show jumping and amazing, up-and-coming younger sires. From Casall, Clarimo and Lavall I through Cornet Obolensky, Diamant de Semilly and Vingino through Uriko and Cascadello I up to Crack, Keaton, Cahil and Charaktervoll there is something to suit everyone’s taste. The same applies to the debut of the foals bred for dressage, representing for example Jovian, Fidano, Dynamic Dream, Dimaggio Black, De Chirico, Fidertanz or else Vitalis.
