Holsteiner Horse Days: Breed, Sport, and Marketing

On 8 to 12 June, the equestrian scene is looking to Elmshorn with the traditional Holsteiner horse days on the calendar. Other than the elite mare show, the highlights of this five day event include the foal auction and the Holsteiner state championships still accepting entries until 19 May.

The four- to seven-year-old jumping horses and the five- and six-year-old dressage horse will compete against each other and crown their 2022 state champion after the qualifier and the final. Beyond that an attractive showing programme has been scheduled. Again and again, exceptional horses have been attracting attention at previous state championships. The most recent example certainly being the Cornet Obolensky son Crack, who was first hailed as state champion and became national champion to much acclaim a few weeks later. But not only top jumping horses have stood out at previous state championships, since also team European champion, Annabelle by Conteur, became Holsteiner state champion as a young horse, naturally in dressage. Furthermore, the championships are interesting for the distributed prize money, with 5,000 euros allotted in the five- to seven-year-old jumper classes and 2,500 euros in the four-year-old jumping horse class. Various tours on the Herbert-Blöcker-outdoor arena complement this year’s schedule, like for example “DERBY stars of tomorrow“, a dressage tour at intermediaire II and Grand Prix level, up to the big tour with jumping competitions up to S** level. And anybody looking for a prospect for the 2026 state championships should not miss out on Friday’s foal auction with about 27 lots selected by executive director Roland Metz on offer. With sires like Diarado, Casall, Clarimo or else for example Zuccero as well as outcross sires like Eldorado v/d Zeshoek, Emerald, Comme il Faut and Chacfly PS there should be foals suited to meet any taste.
